DCS Charter Chatter

Week 5

Main entrance

Welcome!

Welcome to this week's edition of the DCS Charter Chatter! We're excited to share the latest happenings and updates from our school community to keep you informed and engaged. Make sure to check out teacher updates on parent square every Friday!

ParentSquare Update!

Students now have access to ParentSquare with their own accounts! This will allow them to receive the same weekly teacher updates that parents do, helping them stay informed about upcoming due dates, assignments, tests, and quizzes. Our Coaches will also be using ParentSquare to remind their players about games and practices. Your child may need help activating their account, and we will also be available to help them during Study Hall.

School News and Updates

Week 4 was a busy and exciting week for DCS students! Here's a recap of the activities:
  • Nest Coupon Pickup: Students picked up their Nest coupons, which they purchased from 5 Star, during their lunch time on Wednesday. The next opportunity to buy coupons will be in two weeks. Please check the calendar on ParentSquare for all upcoming coupon pickup dates.
  • Spirit Week & Football Friday: We kicked off the start of the NFL season with Spirit Week, culminating in our annual Football Friday tradition. Students had a blast competing against staff in a friendly football game!
  • Homecoming Float: Our preparations for Homecoming are underway! The theme this year is Fairy Tales, and DCS has chosen Sleeping Beauty as our float theme. We're excited to bring this to life, and we appreciate your support.
  • Our 5th and 8th graders and new students to our school all received a letter about our upcoming Vision and Hearing Screening. Please check in with your child if you have not received the letter yet (it may be somewhere in their backpack).
Please see the list below of donations we need to make our float a success. Your contributions are greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to another fun and productive week ahead!

Builds stronger reading skills

How it Works
About a week before the Read-A-Thon, you’ll receive instructions to activate your child’s personal page.
You’ll be able to view and record their reading progress online.

You can activate your reader’s account today:

Proceeds will go toward fun and engaging activities and incentives for our students! Our prizes for our nest coupons will be replenished through this fundraiser also!

We hope EVERYONE participates in making reading fun!

Thank you for supporting our readers,

Important Reminders

Please refer to the map for instructions on carline! This will help ensure it runs smoothly.

Reminder about PCS Carline Procedures

Dear DCS Parents,

We want to kindly remind all families that if you are picking up your child at PCS, you must turn left when exiting the PCS carline. Recently, some drivers have been parking in the small parking lot, which is causing gridlock and delays for parents who are following the correct procedure.

Our goal is to keep carline running smoothly and safely for everyone. This is only possible when all families follow the established protocols. We truly appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us maintain an efficient pick-up process for all.

Our PCS team will like to kindly remind parents that DCS siblings are not allowed to enter campus through the PCS gate. If your child has a younger PCS sibling, they are more than welcome to enter our gate with their PCS sibling. We have a teacher supervising the PCS siblings near the fence area until it is time for PCS carline to begin at 7:45 am.

Free and Reduced Lunch

Although all meals at school are free, the information below helps us continue to get funding for computers, learning materials, etc!

Our school relies on families completing the Free and Reduced Price Application for educational funding throughout the year. Completed forms can be turned into the front office or homeroom teachers.

SWO Information

The first SWO assignment was turned in Friday!

Check the link below for all the Timeline of Due Dates for this year's SWO. Each part of the Project will be rolled out to give students enough time to work on it.
